Frequently-Asked-Questions

How often do I have to see my chiropractor?

This varies depending on the severity of your condition when you first come in for your examination. The minimum frequency to prevent scar tissue is one adjustment per month. The goal however, is to retrain your nervous system to hold your adjustments longer and allow your body to be stronger. Dr. Emily goes to her chiropractor for an adjustment one time per week to keep her nervous system functioning at its best for you!

I hear once I start coming I will always have to get adjusted?

Again, this depends on the person. Just as with getting your teeth cleaned or the oil changed on your car, getting adjusted is something that will help you be the best you possible. A tune up for your spine is a healthy tool for your nervous system.

What is the sound I hear when I get adjusted?

Sometimes you will hear a sound associated with an adjustment. This is called a cavitation and is associated with gas inside a joint. It is not anything to be alarmed by and you may/ may not hear a cavitation during the adjustment.

Do adjustments hurt?

Usually a chiropractic adjustment does not cause any pain. By using a variety of techniques, we can use a form that is most comfortable for the patient. Pain can occur however depending on how long/ severity of the subluxation. Usually the adjustment is no longer painful after the first few adjustments.

Will my insurance cover my chiropractic care?

Typically insurance does not cover wellness care; however, we are in network with some insurance companies and do our best to keep you covered. We offer affordable cash discounts for patients and families.

What type of training does my chiropractor have?

From the American Chiropractic Association: "Doctors of chiropractic care are educated as primary-contact health care providers, with an emphasis on diagnosis and treatment of conditions related to the musculoskeletal system (the muscles, ligaments and joints of the spine and extremities) and the nerves that supply them. In total, the chiropractic college curriculum includes a minimum of 4,200 hours of classroom, laboratory and clinical experience. The course of study is approved by an accrediting agency that is fully recognized by the U.S. Department of Education." https://www.acatoday.org/Patients/Why-Choose-Chiropractic/Chiropractic-Frequently-Asked-Questions

How do I get adjusted while I am pregnant?

For pregnant women special table modifications will be made to accommodate mom's tummy as the baby continues to grow. These modifications allow her to lie on her stomach without putting any pressure on the baby.

How early in my pregnancy should I receive care?

The sooner the better-this is why we are strong believers in preconception care! The more we can prepare mom's body the more comfortable and healthy she can be during her pregnancy.

Are there any supplements I should be taking while I am pregnant?

Yes, however, this will depend on your specific needs. We will collaborate with your Midwife/ OBGYN to make sure we give you the best care possible.

Is there anything else I can be doing to improve my health?

In addition to getting adjusted, Dr. Emily will consult with you on a healthy lifestyle. Exercise, nutrition, muscle work, whatever it may be she will help guide you or help you find the right person to answer all of your health care needs.

What training / qualifications do you have in pregnancy care?

Dr. Emily has had an additional 200 hours studying pediatric and pregnancy care through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA). This field of study has equipped her with tools to best suite your needs during this time.
